I had to add a new category for the subject matter. Shockingly - it's the category, "Vacation".

Even saying that word is new to me.

After three years I am actually taking a real live vacation where I pack a suitcase, get on a plane, and sleep in a hotel. And eat - wow do I plan to eat.

So if anyone has any suggestions for restaurants spanning the area from Miami through the Florida Keys - give me the heads up, will you? I promise to take pictures (Well, as best I can) and give commentary on all the places I eat. Unless of course I get caught and my camera is confiscated by a big bouncer named Bubba Crusher.

I can't begin to tell you how much I am looking forward to this time away. Just the idea of twinkling my toes in the sand puts a smile on my face. I can't wait to come back relaxed and recharged.

I just hope I don't lose my bitchy edge.

Something tells me that you are as likely to lose that bitchy edge as you are not to stumble, trip and fall.

Your positive reinforcement and encouragement toward me is one of the reasons I value your friendship the most.

Yes my dear, you will always be a snob and a whore and a klutz.

I'll be checking the weather for reports of Hurricane Whore slamming into the Florida coast!

Now thats how you know you have true friends...when they use "terms of endearment" like Veg did. Haha. Anyway, hope you have a great time on your vacation. Lucky you!

You won't lose it, just put it into tupperware in the fridge and leave it behind!

There is a place on Key West called Mangia Mangia or something like that, it's pasta/italian, yummy. Also Turtle Craals, I moved away in '94 and of course they have tons of good places now! Go figure. You should take Liz and Mare, they need a break too!

I know a family just north of there who would welcome you and fix you an all-out, kick-ass Italian dinner and make you sit there until you had seconds, wait...thirds, and were unable to leave the table without assistance.

But they would probably make you look at volumes of photos of their grandchildren in the process....

Enjoy your trip!!

I have some ideas for Key West. We went for our honeymoon last summer and ate a lot of great meals. These two stand out from the rest:

Blue Heaven - I loved this place. Fun atmosphere and Amazing food.

El Siboney - this is a neighborhood place, we were the only non-locals when we went for dinner. Really good food.
