« Costco | Main | Happy Thanksgiving » The Most Adored Food Holiday In All The Land
November 23, 2005
I had a really cool offer to take part in a phone-in radio show this afternoon with other food bloggers. The topic? Thanksgiving. Due to my schedule, however, I regretfully had to decline. I was bummed, too. How cool would it have been for me to be able to be on the radio? And then I got to thinking - how cool would it have been, really? As fond as I am of speaking - and I am fond of it - I am not always so fond about the public speaking. True, I would still have the anonimity of the phone lines, but I sort of view public speaking like I do karaoke at a funky bar in Chinatown - in theory, it's really good. But after the first nerve-induced song you warble, you start getting really cocky with the Sheena Easton songs until someone (The Husband) has to give you the look that says perhaps it's time to let someone else have a turn. And if the look doesn't work, they ply you with liquor to simply get you off the microphone and save the patrons of the bar from having to hear you belt out another Celine Dion melody. Though I do hope I get asked again. So the other night at The Meeting Of The General Turkey Synod, the final menu for The Most Adored Food Holiday On The Land was discussed, and agreed upon. So anyway, here it is. It's actually paired down from what we originally thought we needed. Turkey (Turkey-s Plural. We need two of those bad boys) Beverages: Posted by Foodwhore at November 23, 2005 03:37 PM
So is Thanksgiving a lemon drop-free holiday or something? Posted by: swankette at November 23, 2005 04:54 PM Lemon drops aren't on the menu - they stay in the kitchen. ;-) Posted by: The Food Whore at November 23, 2005 07:01 PM That's enough to feed an army! Posted by: milli at November 23, 2005 09:52 PM that's a lot of food on the menu! i'm getting hungry looking at the list, and unfortunately of all day, i am doing a charity 24 hours fast today... Posted by: Lil at November 24, 2005 04:27 AM Great menu - no marshmallows here either! Posted by: meginAB at November 24, 2005 05:25 AM OMG! Does every family have one family member that makes a gelatinous dish at each gathering? My great aunt makes some frightening ones. Posted by: kellyr2 at November 24, 2005 07:05 AM I guess you must be up to your ears in food and lemon drops all ready! Hope you have a good holiday. :) Posted by: Sarah at November 24, 2005 09:00 AM did you get a photo of Grandma A's Funky Green Jello? Posted by: sam at November 26, 2005 07:14 PM Congrats! I'm so glad you're finally getting some recognition for this great site :) But when are we going to see some recipes from the greatest Holiday in All The Land? :) Posted by: Kim at November 28, 2005 09:57 AM Aw, it was fun talking on the radio. You would have enjoyed yourself, it didn't take long. Besides, Christopher Kimball called in to attempt talking Julie out of her high roast turkey. She did it anyway and it came out fine. Plus some Korean POW called in to talk about squeezing slugs for nourishment, hooboy. Biggles Posted by: Dr. Biggles at November 28, 2005 03:35 PM |
