A little time off is good for the soul. Though I suspect The Husband disagrees with me. I am pretty sure I saw him standing on the street wearing a sign that read, 'My Wife Will Work For Food'. I've gone to Hell with myself in the organization department - right down to organizing his sock drawer. I've decorated for Christmas. I've commenced with Holiday Baking. I organized his office, our files, the coats, and my tart pans. Posted by Foodwhore at November 21, 2005 02:33 PM
It gets bad enough here in Oz just with Christmas. I can't imagine having Thanksgiving so close as well. That would be a dress rehersal for all the bad behaviour you could expect at Christmas. But in many ways still fun I bet. And all the great food... Posted by: Mindy at November 21, 2005 03:13 PM What makes it so terrible here, Minday, is that the Christmas promotions, music, etc. have already started. I have several neighbors who have already put up and lit their Christmas lights. And, we have a radio station here in Memphis, which has already switched to "All Christmas, all the time". I'm not sure where Oz is, but join for Thanksgiving anyway. It should not be an American holdiay only, but a chance for anyone to give thanks for all they have received and all they have given to other for the year just past. Posted by: Neil at November 21, 2005 04:33 PM Imagine if all that happened in century-plus temperatures like it does here. Then you go into an airconditioned supermarket to cool down and they're blasting electronified Little Drummer Boy out of the speakers. Posted by: kitchen hand at November 21, 2005 07:14 PM Oz = Australia = DownUnder = The-Country-With-Santa-In-Shorts-And-Flipflops We don´t do Thanksgiving, it´s just not in our traditions at all. I´ve started going to Thanksgiving dinners in Germany with the American Expats and exAmerican-living Germans, but it still is a bit awkward, so close to Xmas. Need to move it to June or so. There´s no good meal in June. Even Oz would probably join in on that, it being the middle of winter there then. Posted by: DrJ at November 22, 2005 01:29 AM i'd be so glad just to have some breathing space right now, least to say doing xmas plannings etc...! Posted by: Lil at November 22, 2005 03:39 AM Wow! So much for calm before the storm, Food Whore, you rock. - - Hey, come to my house next, will you? I was ambitious enough to buy a pomegranet and eat it last week - man, you have to be prepared for the exploding seeds! Other than that, I've eyeballed the boxes of Christmas stuff a couple of times, but that's as far as I've gotten. And to all the 'down under' folks - Happy Holidays, heatwave or no! Townsville is one of my favorite places in all the world. Here in Southeast Alaska, it's 40 and raining. And raining. And raining......
