ASSumptions
December 09, 2005

Who calls their caterer the DAY OF the event and says, "Oh... um... yeah. Just go ahead and throw in a couple appetizers. Maybe a nice shrimp cocktail and some stuffed mushrooms or perhaps a cheese torte and some crostini. Mmmkay? Thanks!"
Sure. No problem. I mean, considering this gig went from just desserts to just appetizers, to a two-meat meal, to a two-meat meal with dessert, to a two-meat meal with dessert and appetizers all in one damn week - WHY THE HELL NOT.

If I called the doctor do you think he would change these pills from anti-biotics to anti-psychotics?

'Cause I'm gonna need them...

I understand sooo well what you feel. I've had a 45 full dinner party, changed one day before the due date in a 60 people appetizers ( tapas) party. We're still eating at home baby potatoes, creamed asparagus soup and corned beef.
Good Luck!

Just go ahead....?

Do people not have a clue? Ever?

Posted by: Alida at December 9, 2005 06:32 PM

Um, sure. And while I'm at it, why don't I just return your deposit because life is too short, 'kay?

Which is why Katherine is not a caterer, huh?

Those people are SO clueless but they makes for entertaining blog material anyway ;-)

Great blog! I'll be back.

If it were me, I'd be looking for a good lawyer. Just in case the bomb was traced back to me.

I hope that you charge them extra every time they do something like that.

Posted by: TempestTeapot at December 10, 2005 07:07 AM

there ya go- a "change in contract" charge- that's the ticket. I tried to post a comment to "dutch treat" twice but it would NOT go- I was gonna say my grandmother made a delightful yellow cake with fudge icing, and i cannot get it to do right either- but would love to try the oliebollen recipe, when the rush slows down, of course...

Every time they make a change in the order, you should charge them. Food preparation-- like in construction--involves materials, time and labor. You can't just pull this stuff out of your ass at the last minute and these people need to know that. Good luck!

That kind of thing is why I got out of the cooking business. It would have been a lot of fun except for all those darned customers.
