I have to laugh I have had the exact same experience.. Now if her homemade were that 'good' makes you wonder how she has survived!

Wow. Just wow. It's fascinating how people who do that kind of thing can stay in business. After all, if you hired her, and let her get away with it, imagine what "the average person (who) doesn't make mashed potatoes from scratch anymore" will do. They're who are keeping her in business, because they "(aren't) even be able to tell the difference."

"We food professionals" actually DO know better, since those of us who ARE truly food professionals do NOT "do this all the time."

Did anyone complain (since it would be too obvious if you complained, seeing as how you already *knew* they weren't the real thing)? Perhaps you should have organised a number of relatives to strategically complain about the mashed potatoes being just a bit odd... :)
