March 18, 2006
So I am sure you've all noticed by now that I slipped a little Google ad over there on the left. It's an experiement, and not one I am all too thrilled about right now, as it seems to be insistent on getting everyone informed about gas, flatulence, and bloating based on one entry about a man's inability to hold in the burps.
So are you all ok with me placing an ad or two? My preference is food-based and/or cooking ads. Which I am working on. But if you've got an idea, let me know. Posted by Foodwhore at March 18, 2006 12:50 PM
Go ahead and place the ads--I'm an expert at not looking at them anyway. I greatly enjoy your blog. Posted by: Marsha at March 18, 2006 01:01 PM I can ignore it. Posted by: Tana at March 18, 2006 02:03 PM Love the blog, can certainly tolerate the ads. Best John Posted by: Yogi at March 18, 2006 02:24 PM Mm, gas! I can tolerate them. I'm afraid of muddying up my site too, but the configurable color scheme fits in pretty well. I haven't gotten any flatulence related advertisers yet! Posted by: Robyn at March 18, 2006 02:27 PM bring on the ads! i think it would be fun to see what google comes up with for each post... Posted by: iamchanelle at March 18, 2006 02:50 PM I can't see any ads? Posted by: sam at March 18, 2006 03:04 PM jump on the ad bandwagon. Cash while you still can. Besides little sticky notes cover the annoying blinking ones. Posted by: cath at March 18, 2006 03:44 PM What, nothing on nose-picking? Posted by: Elle at March 18, 2006 06:01 PM I have gas, so I'm looking forward to the ads, actually. Posted by: Tom Oakes at March 18, 2006 07:44 PM I don't see ads right now either ... but I am fine with them, load it up. I read blogs that are positively obnoxious with ads ... it's all about the content ;) Posted by: Jen at March 18, 2006 08:08 PM Many of us automatically tune the Google Ads out. I hope a real sponsor turns up, as you deserve such. Posted by: Jack at March 18, 2006 08:39 PM Ohhhh! I like Cath's idea about the sticky notes! Posted by: Tiberia at March 19, 2006 08:30 AM Sure, gal! I'd love to hear items/ideas that you endorse. Posted by: OMamaMia at March 19, 2006 10:52 AM As long as people don't start sticking popups on the blogs, its cool with me! Posted by: Kellyr2 at March 19, 2006 05:01 PM You do what you've gotta do. If I get to continue to read you for free, I'll deal with ads. I'd gladly buy an ad-free book written by you, btw. Posted by: wilsonian at March 19, 2006 06:12 PM I'm cool with it. Esp. google ads which generally attempt to be relevant *and* non-blinding. Posted by: bastlynn at March 20, 2006 04:03 AM In order to keep your site running I am sure we can all tolerate the ads. The current one was for an online foodie mag (agalinks.com) and it had a great recipe on it that I just printed so thanks from me :D Posted by: M at March 20, 2006 05:38 AM Ads are no problem. . . even for gas remedies. Posted by: Anne at March 20, 2006 06:54 AM Whatever floats your boat, hon. Posted by: M. Schwartz at March 20, 2006 10:42 AM Do the ads girl, everyone lurves you and whatever you choose to do!! Posted by: Jumper at March 20, 2006 10:56 AM ads are fine ... my definite preference is for the non-blinking, non-popup variety, though. Posted by: alice at March 20, 2006 11:55 AM I'm for the ads... I run Google ads on my blog, most of the pages get weird, meaningless ads but a few pages, the ones that get a lot of search engine traffic because of the specific content on them -- they get relevant ads and a number of clicks, which translates to some money. My PageRank is a little less than yours so I'd expect you'd do better. Go for it! Posted by: Wade at March 20, 2006 07:29 PM Please ad away, this is one reader you can't annoy, only please with your wonderful humour. Posted by: Tony S. at March 21, 2006 04:31 AM as long as they're not BEGGING you to click on them, I wouldn't care at all. Posted by: becky at March 21, 2006 06:21 AM Personally I ain't hip to the Ad. I get enough of that during my every day travels and have made a point of not having any on Meathenge. Tootles Posted by: Dr. Biggles at March 21, 2006 09:36 AM Google uses key words loaded on the site to determine their ad placement...it's fancy technology, but if you used more words like cooking or catering or restaurant, it would pick up on it. I love your blog btw.~ Posted by: Danny at March 21, 2006 10:45 AM Please do!!! I will return everyday just the same. I would like a few more recipes though ;) Posted by: riffraff at March 22, 2006 08:19 AM It's fine, but can you get someone other than Dan Quayle to write them? There's one for "potatoe processing" - but perhaps that's related to the fingernail incident? Posted by: Zoe at March 23, 2006 08:17 PM |
