The Bride was a little on the snotty side. Ok a lot, actually. But we're used to that, and so apparently was everyone around her. It wasn't obtuse, just a fact everyone knew and dealt with.
Classic. Posted by Foodwhore at August 25, 2006 10:51 AM
The Great-Grandmother actually said that? Outstanding! Posted by: Edo at August 25, 2006 11:24 AM ah, the privileges of age. The rest of us would be thought rude if we were reading a book in the back of the hall and refused to come out until we finished the chapter! Posted by: Michelle at August 25, 2006 12:18 PM Just a question... Posted by: Dave at August 25, 2006 01:08 PM Great-granny rocks! I want to be her when I grow up. Posted by: RLR at August 25, 2006 01:10 PM I wonder what side of the family she is on? It's hysterical if she's the great-granny of the bride. Posted by: Kevin at August 25, 2006 01:27 PM ohh I only hope I can live long enough to be that honest! Posted by: Jen at August 25, 2006 02:53 PM That's why I loved my great-gran so dearly... She was brought up to be a lady but she had a streak of honesty and fire that just HAD to be admired! Being old ROCKS! I don't know why people are so determined to stay young. Posted by: Nerissa at August 25, 2006 08:03 PM my great-grandmother just died last week at the age of 95, and surrounded by family sitting in her favorite chair, next to a HUGE stack of bodice rippers. Posted by: Ben at August 25, 2006 08:30 PM I want to be her when I'm old and grey! Posted by: Alida at August 27, 2006 07:50 AM I am with Dave 100%! You are successful enough to have "the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason"! As a matter of fact, why not add that to your catering van in italics under the name? I think it would be great! Posted by: Mandy at August 27, 2006 11:58 AM Bahahahahaha! Priceless! We have a grandma who is 93 years old and she doesn't hesitate to make her opinion known - and you know what? We all think it is her right! and respect it (Our grandma reads "Soap Opera Digest" & "The National Enquirer" and believes every bit! giggle. Thanks for the classic post! Posted by: SkippyMom at August 28, 2006 12:57 PM she is one cool nan! my late grandma was a great laugh too. the things she said you could estimate from a guy's eyebrows... hmm, i had difficulty looking at guys in the face for a while. and the words that she spewed when we take too long in the bathroom... can put a seasond sailor to shame. to think she studied in a convent! i miss her. lots. Posted by: sapishnut at August 29, 2006 07:24 AM I grew up with about a dozen great-aunts...and the one we all remember and still speak of most fondly was the one who had a nasty comment about most anything -- told it as she saw it. Read bodice-rippers, shared her opinions, and brooked no nonsense (esp from snots). Posted by: Nana at August 29, 2006 10:42 AM |
