So I was in The Grocery Store the other day - just, you know, browsing. And while I was leaning over picking an acorn squash I got tapped on the shoulder. "Hi. Remember me?" "Hi. Gosh, I am sorry, I don't... wait... Deli Girl?" "Yep! It's me!"
I was transported back in time and staring at a Pantene model, hair all swingy and glowy. And she had the most darling baby girl in her arms.
"Well you seem so very happy. And you look fabulous. But I hope you kept just a little bit of wierd. We all need to keep a little bit of the wierd." "Oh I've still got the wierd, but a girl can only sport a mullet for just so long, you know?"

Moustache? Posted by: Tony S. at November 8, 2006 10:10 PM good for deli girl. I accidently dyed my hair electric pink a couple of years ago (I was going for fire engine red) and believe it or not, I made more tips with my hair pink. Plus, my customers were able to remember me. "I want the waitress I had last time. The one with the pink hair." Hope her business doesn't suffer cuz she lost some of the weird. Posted by: Leslie at November 8, 2006 10:17 PM Well blow me down! What a pleasant surprise. Go Deli Girl! Never thought I would say that... Posted by: Miche at November 9, 2006 06:08 AM Ah, these wild and crazy kids. One day they're dying their hair green and talking with a British accent and the next, they've turned into upright citizens. Who knew? Anyway, good for Deli Girl. Sounds like her life is taking a turn for the better. Posted by: RLR at November 9, 2006 10:33 AM And, at least a mullet or pink hair is clearly reversible. The ones I worry about are the 20-something coffee baristas with 47 piercings, face tattoos, and those giant earlobe-stretching rings. That stuff is not going to age gracefully when they hit 40 - you can only cover so much with a suit and a good haircut..... Posted by: shera at November 9, 2006 11:20 AM Hurrah for Deli Girl -- and how nice to read such a cheery post! Posted by: Nana at November 9, 2006 04:22 PM what a wonderful post, FW :-) Posted by: worldpeace and a speedboat at November 10, 2006 10:44 PM |
