Let's Get Ready To Rumble...
November 21, 2006

I was in The Grocery Store this morning and saw two women get into a stare down over the last jar of Pimento Stuffed Olives.

It's not so much the joy of the season I love so much, it's the Hand to Hand combat happening all over The Grocery Store I find so entertaining.

Good times are a coming, people.

Good times are a coming.

LOL - and I was thinking that here in CT every one seems friendly & happy (go figure!) these days!

Of course, I finished my Thanksgiving food shopping last night to avoid the "fighting in the aisles."

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

that reminds me of what happened to me two nights ago. i was in the grocery store reading the label on the blue-cheese stuffed olives (which, by the way, never buy. stuff your own. the blue cheese gets icky sitting around in the brine). a fellow shopper spotted a grocery clerk and yelled,

"Hey! where can i find cranberries?".
clerk: "over by the oranges in Produce".
shopper: "No, i dont want the REAL ones, i want the fake ones. you know, in a can?"

cracks me up.

You'll notice that "peace on earth/goodwill to man" is confined to the Christmas holidays. Thanksgiving is more about smackdown in the food aisles .... :-)

Geez! I'm envisioning demonically possessed shoppers ramming each other with their trolleys/carts just to get that last much needed item on the shelf. Is it really like that? I don't remember ever experiencing that sort of deal in the grocery stores here in Australia.

omg! that's too funny!your stories crack me up. i wish a doctor's office had those kind of stories... wait.. stupidity abounds around here...

it's just as i've always said: pimento stuffed olives bring out the evil in people.

You know, I'm all for olives stuffed with pimentos but I don't think I've ever felt like harming another person over them... well, thats not true. A horrible bartender in a New Orleans dive felt my evil glare when she garnished my bloody mary with one. Of course, she didn't fix the drink properly either so that may have had something to do with it. My favorite holiday activity is to go to walmart the morning after thanksgiving to watch desperate parents fist fight over that season's newest toy...

I have to go to the store tomorrow to get the rest of the Waldorf Salad fixings... pray for me.

I'm at this moment trying to get geared up for my errand run from hell, and one of them is the stinkin' food store. I thought I had everything I needed, but was sadly mistaken. Then decided I needed to make cranberry relish...the store is going to be a nightmare, I just know it.
If I'm not back in three days send someone to avenge my death.

Just be thankful you live in a place where potentially you could drive to the next store if something is out. Here in Alaska, everything is flown in, so what you see is what you get. I did most of my shopping on Saturday.....bought up the last of the pecans.

I am the 'foodie' at an upscale grocery store and I could tell such stories. Geez-Louise

I am trying to recover from the Mon, Tues & Wed before Thanksgiving. I actually had a lady come to me and ask me what cauliflower is. She had a recipe for cauliflower,,,,what part of a recipe is appealing if you don't know what the freaking main ingredient is? Crazy
