Who Are The People In Your Neighborhood
May 24, 2007

While sitting in my office the other day a gentleman stopped in to tell me about his new business. He told me where the business would be - a location I was familiar with.

He was on his way to get some more plants for his garden - which explained the muddy jeans - and thought to stop in and let me know he's been working on building a nice coffee stand to sell the coffee he was going to roast himself.

He let me know he was also going to stop by the automotive store for more oil - which explained the grease covering the front of his shirt.

He said he would come back soon with samples, and we could talk more at that time. But that he was in a hurry to get to the dentist office to pick up his dentures - which would explain the very gummy, toothless grin upon his arrival.

Oh the people that you meet when your walking down the street...

LOL... so now it's not JUST your customers who are wacky, but your "neighbors" too!

"Oh, who are the people in your neighborhood, in your neighborhood, in your neigh-bor-hooooood?"

Ahhh... FW... you meet them all! lol.

I would be very surprised if no one has recommended that you watch this, but have you ever seen the movie "Waiting?" I was reading your archives - at work, oh dear - and came across the entry "10 Minutes Til Closing", which reminded me of it.

It's hysterical and disgusting (but mostly hysterical), and if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

It was recommended to me by my sister, a former hostess in a restaurant patronized mostly by tourists (because locals know they should probably get a tetanus booster before eating there, and we all know how pesky those can be).

Recently transplanted to the British West Indies, brought me to tears over my career.

I thought...great new experiences in a tropical environment! NO! Wasn't the commercial spin that the TV puts on for you. I thank GOD everyday for the FDA. Food quality sucks, if there is any to be had. Prices are double anywhere in the US for almost any food product. The costs of shopping for dinner takes most of everyones salary.

Thank GOD I am back in the States-Miami. At least I will put my experiences to good use. Nothing makes you appreciate what we have here in the States like leaving them.

Yesterday I was accosted by a burlesque dancer asking where a place to hide was but ran before I could answer. She was being chased by the devil, who was then being chased by a drunken Bob Villa wielding a hammer in a drunken fashion.

I assumed it was a costume party and left it at that. I locked my door when I got in my apartment.

People on the street are odd...
