I had noticed a couple of kids outside the front window of The Restaurant kind of pacing back and forth. They would stare, one would punch one another in the arm, laugh, and then they would both run away. And then they would be back and do it all over again.
And before I form and actual word The Man sitting at Table 8 walked up, put a $100 bill in my hand and asked me to please give $50 to his wait person, and $50 to the person who cooked his steak. It was, as he so eloquently put it, "Fan-F-ing-tastic". I don't know if my cocktail should be comforting or celebratory.

FW, you have the freakshow market cornered. Love your posts,,,,,who could make this stuff up? Happy Thanksgiving! Posted by: sue.g at November 20, 2007 04:44 AM Those kids are geniuses! If you are homeless, why settle for going through the garbage? Just steal food right off the table of a high class restaurant and live homeless in style! Obviously they have very distinguished tastebuds....instead of going to McDonald's to steal a burger.... :) Posted by: Carmen at November 20, 2007 08:16 AM my what the wind blows in. this is exactly why i love this industry. Posted by: struglas at November 20, 2007 08:43 AM That's the way to get a gastronomic education, it beats the Food Channel anyday! If they're homeless, prhaps bring them in for prep once a week so that they can learn more about what they ate, how to prepare it one day...I hope they become regulars, it beats the cradle to grave marketing of McDonalds and its a lot healthier too. Posted by: Food Diva at November 20, 2007 10:50 AM The kids were probably hungry. We once got approached by some kids who wanted our rolls while we were eating in a local pizza place. They most likely lived at a nearby housing project. It was sad. Needless to say, we gave them the rolls. The manager figured out what was going on and came over to apologize.
