I love it when people get argumentative - as if challenging us when we say, "Sorry - you will have to wait" will magically make an empty table appear out of the sky. "Oh, really. How long is this wait?" "Not too long, about 20 minutes." "Well there is no way we can be seated sooner?" "No I am sorry." "So if I demanded to be seated immediately you couldn't find a table?"

I hate it when people take things personally that have absolutely nothing to do with who they are, what they look like or how much money they have. If there isn't a table, there isn't a table. An unexpected resh at 4pm and people say "I see empty tables, I demand not to wait 20 minutes for a table!" Well thats fine, but you're gonna have to wait 20 minutes for service! Posted by: Leslie at January 15, 2008 09:10 PM I know people can be such a PITA sometimes, but I think many diners have the perception that many restaurants routinely reserve tables for VIPS, so they may feel like if they are demanding enough, the restaurant will fork over those reserved tables.
