St. Patty
March 17, 2008

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

I love that blessing. I've always loved the sweetness and simplicity of it all.

And it reads so much better than, "I hope all the cabbage and beer doesn't give you the gas something fierce..."

I was thinking that at 3:00 a.m. this morning as I added chunks of cabbage to my simmering corned beef. I fired up The Crock Pot last night to get the corned beef ready for today. And when I woke I could smell all the lucious flavors wafting through the house. And I can't wait to sit down with a big hunk of rye bread and some mustard sauce and go to Hell with myself. And some pickles. I've got to have my pickles, too.

Ireland is my dream trip, actually. Italy ranks right up there, but I have to admit that a trip to the emerald fields of Ireland entice me the most.

I want to look up our family and drink a pint in a pub. And wander in the rolling green fields.

The whiskey doesn't sound bad, either.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all. May your day be blessed.

I keep the Irish poem in my wallet - it was my dad's favorite and was read at his funeral.

On a lighter note - love me some corned beef!!!

My favorite Irish toast is:
May those that love us, love us.
And those that do not love us, may God turn their heads.
And if He cannot turn their heads, may He turn their ankles, so that we will know them by their limping.

And my favorite Irish Legend:
When you die, St Peter hangs you upside down over a barrel of all the alcohol you've ever spilled. And if you drown, to hell with you!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, from a Scot.

It's my dream to go to Ireland and drink a pint in a pub too! I tell people that's why I want to go and they look at me like I have 3 heads. Well, some day all three of my heads will drink a pint in a pub in Ireland.
Happy St. Pat's day to you.

You should consider Northern Ireland too. It's an amazing place to visit. So beautiful. I actually liked it better than Ireland.

Happy St. Pat's to you, FW. On your way to Ireland stop in NY and we'll go to the Blazer Pub (as in Galway Blazers) for a burger and a brew. Ireland is beautiful and will stay with you forever.

Happy St. Patrick's Day. That blessing was read at my wedding and I love it. One day I'll visit Ireland. It's on the top of my list of places to visit. I want to see all that green, enjoy a pint, and maybe a whiskey or two.

Ireland is absolutely beautiful. Nice people, great food, and Guiness! One of the best tours I've ever been on is the Guiness factory in Dublin.
