Forehead Slapping
July 27, 2008

I was having dinner with friends last week when their youngest and I began the 7-Day Countdown to our shared birthday.

"And how old will you be?" I asked.

He stood up on his chair and shouted, "FOUR! I WILL BE FOUR!!!" The best part was The Batman Costume, complete with chiseled chest. He insists on wearing at least 3 times a week, much to his mother's chagrin, but I think its pretty fabulous.

"And how old will you beeeeeeeee?" He asked.

I whispered in his year, and his response was to slap his forehead in utter exhasperation. Big numbers tend to overwhelm the young. (Damn kids...)

I did not stand on my chair and shout it to the world. Because, lets be honest - I'm a faller. And I think I will save that for the actual day. So if you happen to see a chair standing, age shouting super hero out and about this week - that might be me.

I'm thinking Wonder Woman. Loved the jewelry. And that invisible jet.

And maybe those magic bracelets will dodge not only bullets, but maybe keep me vertical.

Hee! I've been smiling all weekend cause the neighbor's 4 year old was riding up and down the street on her bike in her wonder woman costume. I felt much safer knowing she was patroling the street. The invisibe airplane must be in the shop.

I had Wonder Woman Underoos when I was 5 or 6 and they made me invincible. I wish they made them in adult sizes, but I have a feeling they would be labeled "lingerie" now and would have a totally different effect then what I was amming for.

Have the happiest of Happy Birthdays.

Years ago I had a co-worker who looked like the actress who played Wonder Woman. On Halloween she showed up dressed as Wonder Woman.

I had my birthday earlier this month, and brought cookies to work. One of my co-workers asked me what birthday this was for me, and I said "38!" Loud and proud, that's me. I am not having yet another 29th birthay, I embrace my age, etc.

Another co-worker said, "I don't know, that's getting pretty close to 40..."

Yes. I'm aware. And thank you for your observation. ; )
