There's an intern in my kitchen. A mentoring project - a chance to give back. And - a favor for a friend.
I was headed to the walk-in cooler when she asked, "Um, excuse me. Yeah, um, how do I keep the water from going down the drain?" Seriously. Posted by Foodwhore at November 4, 2008 08:04 PM
You...what? Well, maybe she meant...er...I have no idea. Posted by: Merrilee Faber at November 4, 2008 09:38 PM That one actually left me speechless. Posted by: pats at November 5, 2008 02:59 AM I'm guessing she was looking for a drain stopper/flip switch for the sink so she could create soap-bath for the pans to soak in. It doesn't seem so odd to me. I guess she could have phrased it better. Posted by: choyoyo at November 5, 2008 03:17 AM She probably couldn't find the drain stop, but the wording made coffee come out my nose! Posted by: Spacemom at November 5, 2008 09:30 AM I'm with spacemom and choyoyo. it was probably just bad phrasing but darn if it wasn't funny! Posted by: moonablaze at November 5, 2008 10:21 AM how the heck does she take a bath? Posted by: Tonja at November 5, 2008 11:56 AM Tonja: Well, my bath has a drain setup radically different from my sink. I've never used a restaurant sink, but I don;t imagine they work like my tub either. Posted by: Sigivald at November 5, 2008 12:00 PM Come on now...don't be a hater Food Whore. Posted by: Jen in WI at November 5, 2008 12:12 PM Just so you know I am not a complete beast - there are 3 large white rubber stoppers hanging on a hook right above the faucet. She did not know how to plug any sink, not just mine. Posted by: The Food Whore at November 5, 2008 02:44 PM Well now FW, that's a different story. Posted by: Jen in WI at November 5, 2008 03:20 PM hmmm, that sounds like the interns we've had, I think cluelessness is a requirement Posted by: jen at November 5, 2008 06:39 PM You put an upside down plate over the drain, isn't that how everybody (that doesn't have the working lever closure) do it? Posted by: ntsc at November 6, 2008 02:06 AM O. M. G. I guess that is going to be a bigger favor than you realized! Posted by: sister AE at November 6, 2008 09:03 PM |
