Thank you thank you thank you - you guys are awesome! I printed out your comments and will take with me the wisdom you've given to make the big purchase. Soon I will be posting pictures. Probably still of feet or half-heads, but oh the quality will be sublime!
No one said a word. I stood there long enough to put my knife down, and was polite enough to let him finish off the jug before asking if he would like a cookie. He giggled, burped, and tied his apron. "That was one helluva Pong Party - woop woop!". He actually threw his hands in the air like he was doing the electric boogaloo on Solid Gold. Sadly, this was not the first time he's come in like this. But today - today was his last.

I've always been amazed at my co-workers who thought that hungover behavior was something to be congratulated, or encouraged...or something to be shared. It happens at college--and it should stay there! Posted by: Laurel at February 23, 2009 10:06 PM Wow... I've seen some terrible behavior amoung the drunk or high at work (at any given moment, one of our line cooks is porbably stoned) but they're usually smart enough not to act like they're stoned. I've only seen one person drink a gallon of milk and that went along with a dare to see who could drink a gallon of milk and eat a costco sized tub of peanut butter the fastest. Posted by: Leslie at February 24, 2009 07:27 AM I used to work for a large management consulting firm. I once had to, um, discuss, with an employee the impropriety of coming into work so hungover that he spent lunch sleeping in his car (in the client's parking lot). I would have preferred that he call in sick. It happened only once. Posted by: StevenHB at February 24, 2009 07:59 AM I got someone fired from the easiest job in the world for coming in drunk. We were desk clerks at a dormitory, I was working 12 am - 8 am and he was working 4 am - 8 am with me. Showed up drunk, wasn't checking IDs, not doing any parts of his job, so I went in the back and called our boss, who showed up and told him to go home. Posted by: Dara at February 24, 2009 11:57 AM The only time I've come into work hung over, the entire crew was hung over. It was a New Years Day football game out of the Superdome, crew call for the TV people was 8 AM even though the first work call was 2 PM and we had been totally set up for 3 days, having already done one game out of there. This ensured people would have something to eat and a single bloody mary was available if you thought that would help. The TV company had a mandatory New Year's Eve party the night before, mandatory to the point that the union crew was on overtime. Managment wanted to know that the crew was not out in the French Quarter on New Years Eve. Good food - outside first rate caterers, first rate booze, live music. It was very good to know that none of my part of the crew was in jail. Posted by: ntsc at February 28, 2009 05:51 AM |
